DENTAL IMPLANTS - who can benefit?
Whether you are young or old, just missing one tooth or
have no teeth at all - dental implants could make a very dramatic
difference to the way that your mouth feels, looks and functions.
Treatment with dental implants could give a tremendous boost
to your comfort and self-confidence. Implants are not prone
to decay and are considered to be the "gold standard"
treatment for missing teeth in many situations.
| Data available on early implant systems
has now shown cases functioning successfully for over
25 years and the technology involved in implants has continued
to develop and improve even further. Unlike conventional
bridgework, dental implant treatment does not involve
destructive procedures to adjoining teeth. Additional
stress to neighbouring teeth is avoided. |

What is an Implant?
A dental implant is usually a small metal screw which
is placed in the upper or lower jawbone where the natural
teeth have been lost. Implants are made from pure titanium
which "integrates" with the surrounding bone
to provide a firm foundation for the replacement of missing
teeth.
Once the implant is integrated with the bone (a process
known as osseointegration) it is ready to carry a tooth
or other structure. Implants can replace teeth individually
or help stabilise poorly retained dentures. |

How many implants do I need?
This depends on the problems you are experiencing. Implants
can be used to replace each individual tooth, to replace several
teeth supporting a bridge, or they can be used to anchor your
denture.
Treatment with Intra-Venous sedation
There is no need to worry about the surgical phase of your
implant treatment, as this can be provided with the aid of
Intra-Venous sedation without any additional cost. Intra-Venous
sedation is an extremely successful, popular and safe procedure
for the treatment of nervous patients. It is particularly
useful for patients undergoing a one-off surgical procedure,
as in implantology. Of course, some patients prefer to undergo
treatment with a local anaesthetic alone.
Cost
As each individual's requirements are different, the cost
will vary depending on complexity and the number of implants
required. After a consultation, a written report detailing
the treatment plan with all estimated costs will be prepared
for you to consider before treatment begins.
Getting started
- The first stage is a full examination of your mouth including
taking X-rays.
- A report detailing suggested treatments is discussed
with you.
- Implants are placed and allowed to heal for 3 to 6 months.
- Implants are uncovered and left for a further 2 weeks.
- Impressions are taken.
- Your final Crown, Bridge or Denture is fitted.
This whole process is carried out at our own Dental Implant
Clinic by Dr Mark Willings.
Dental Implant Protection
LAMP Insurance Company Limited is delighted to advise that
as a result of the success of the Astra implant programme,
each implant placed by Dr Willings at Horbury Dental Care
automatically incorporates £2,500 protection for your
implant treatment in respect of:
- Failure of the implant to integrate
- Extra-Oral Accidental Damage – impact from outside
the mouth
- Emergency treatment benefit of £200 whilst away
from home (UK and overseas)
If you require remedial treatment as a result of the above
circumstances, the warranty will meet the treatment and laboratory
costs, up to your policy limit, which is £2,500 per
implant.
We no longer provide automatic cover. The insurance is still available, but we only provide information and then the patient needs to get in touch with the insurance company themselves. LAMP then take over and will contact the patient each year. The cover remains the same.
Contact us to read the Policy Terms and Conditions and a document
setting out the “Key Facts” relating to the insurance.
You should read these carefully to ensure that the policy
meets your needs. If you have any queries, please call us
