IMMEDIATE IMPLANTS
In certain situations, providing a defined set of criteria
are met, implant treatment may be completed in one session
without the need for waiting long periods of time for healing
to take place, as is usually required following an extraction.
This technique is not advisable for everyone, but clearly
for those people for whom it is appropriate, the benefits
are tremendous.
The benefits include:
- Reduced treatment times
- Reduced number of appointments and visits
- Little or no pain and/or discomfort
- Instant results!

In the following case, Mr
S was referred to us by his own General Dental Practitioner
because his upper front tooth was discoloured and unsightly.
An x-ray (opposite) showed that it was also unstable because
of decay and resorption. After careful assessment Mr S
was scheduled for immeadiate replacement of this tooth
with a dental implant.
This was carried out in one appointment under local anaesthetic
and using intravenous sedation. It took less than two
hours and the result is tremendous. |

Before: Discoloured and unsightly
During: Following implant placement - temporary
crown. This is a transitional crown used during the healing
period. After 6 months an impression was taken and a definative
porcelain crown was fitted.
After: Permanent porcelain crown |

I am totally thrilled with the result.
I had not been to a dentist for many years as I was petrified.
It took a lot for me to think about dental implant treatment
to replace this tooth, as I was a dental phobic.
BUT I am delighted with my decision. The treatment seemed
so simple - one Saturday morning I walked in with a discoloured,
'ugly' looking front tooth and two hours later I walked
out with my smile restored! I had no pain or discomfort
and can highly recommend this treatment to anyone who
is faced with the prospect of losing a front tooth.
