MULTIPLE DENTAL IMPLANTS FOR
MISSING TEETH
Implants supporting individual crowns to replace missing back
teeth
The patient Mr V had had several back teeth extracted many years
ago. This had led to overeruption of the opposite teeth as there
was nothing for them to bite against. Note how the two top teeth
have grown down. This had caused gum disease and decay of the
top teeth.
Three dental implants were placed into the space, each implant
supporting a crown. The top teeth have been shortened and provided
with crowns to give a much improved functional and aesthetic
result.
Before: upper teeth have grown down
or over-erupted into the space in the bottom jaw
After: crowns also placed in top teeth to reduce
the over-eruption and correct the plane of the teeth
Patient's Testimonial
Following the initial examination and assessment,
the entire process ran very smoothly from start to finish
with very little discomfort. Every step was fully explained
beforehand and Mark's attention to detail was second to
non. All of his staff were equally supportive.
The final results are excellent- I hardly believe the
dental implants are there at all - there is no loss of
'bite' and the ability to produce a smile with no gaps
is personally very rewarding.
I would genuinely recommend dental implants to anyone.
ALL TEETH MISSING
Lose Dentures replaced by fixed bridgework
Patient Y presented having worn a complete upper denture for
30 years. In his lower jaw he had only 6 remaining natural teeth
and he could not tolerate a lower denture.
Mr Y was becoming increasingly concerned that his gums were
shrinking so hi lips and cheeks were starting to appear wrinkled.
Further he was increasingly embarrassed by his upper denture
which was loose and was prone to dropping down as he spoke to
people.
Mr Y, whilst being very nervous about coming to the dentist,
was determined to get rid of his denture and have something
fixed.
8 implants in upper jaw.
The implants were linked with a bar
Seen here on a model of the jaw.

The bridge attaches over the bar.
Components seen here off the model.
Bridge precisely locates over the bar and is firmly held
in position by locating screws - seen here on the palatal
aspect of the bridge so as to be invisible in the mouth.
Note also the lower jaw was
reconstructed with crowns on the
6 implants, replacing the back
teeth and 6 new crowns on the
remaining natural front teeth.
Finished!
Teeth seen with the lip line.
Close up! Note how natural the gum work looks.
Patient's Testimonial
I found myself making excuses not to go
places because my denture was so loose - even when it
was stuck in with fixative I could never be certain is
would hold. Going out for a meal was impossible.
Having implants really has changed my life. They have
restored my dignity and self-confidence. Sure they were
expensive but the treatment was worth every penny and
I wouldn't hesitate about going through it again.
My fears about dentists have completely vanished - you
and your team have all been extremely kind and would recommend
Horbury Dental Care to anyone.
