Wedding Bells. Stephanie, one of our nurses finally married her long-term boyfriend Jamie. The couple have spent many years together and we are sure there will be so many more. We wish them both a very happy life as husband and wife. The newlyweds married at Woodlands in Leeds and honeymooned on an American adventure.
June marks the month of our annual challenge. This year it was the Rough Runner (Arley Hall Cheshire). Francois took center stage as our team captain. Mr. Toothpaste.
We held an opening evening for our dentists that refer their own patients to us for implant treatment. They were invited to join us for an educational evening with talks from Mark, Nick, and James on the subject of dental implants and how to provide ongoing care for their patients after treatment.
Same Day Crowns A new piece of technology was installed allowing us to offer patients same day crowns. Francois took lead on arranging the training and staff enjoyed a full afternoon of education on the benefits and capabilities of this new exciting technology.

Mark and his daughter Harriet were interviewed for the lunchtime and evening news in anticipation of the up and coming 75th Anniversary of Horbury Dental Care. They talked about the history of the practice and how dentistry in the Willing’s family has moved into the 21st century.

Our team took part in important annual CPR training, where we took it in turns to practice CPR and learn about emergency situations and the drugs you may need. It’s a very sensitive subject but one that all of our team enjoy and are interested learning the latest techniques.
In March some of us welcomed of huge mounds of snow, as adverse weather took its grip! At Horbury our dedicated team fought shovel and sledge to make their way into work to continue treating our patients.
We hosted a number of evenings for pupils at local sixth forms with an interest in studying dentistry at university. Our team of dentists and nurses hosted workshops, question and answer sessions and talks about careers in dentistry.
We introduced our new lead nurse Katie.
Katie has worked at Horbury now for 10 years and with her wealth of experience in dentistry she will be a great ambassador for the nurses. Originally from Horbury she is a lively & bubbly character who is hard working and dedicated. When Katie isn’t donning her scrubs, she enjoys walks with her dog Kopper and meeting up with friends.
We welcomed a new apprentice nurse to our team Charlotte.
Charlotte increases our team of apprentice nurses joining Anisha who became part of our team last year. Charlotte is a keen traveler, passionate about wildlife and in recent years she has taken part in demonstrations to save dolphins. She is a confident, happy girl and makes a great addition to our team.
Our team charter was created.
The team spent an afternoon engaging with one and other to create a team bond or contract that includes our values. Its aim is to help us respect and treat each other how we would expect to be treated.
Staff at HDC celebrated Christmas by attending a Yurt party in Harrogate, an amazing night was had by all!
November marks Mouth Cancer Awareness Month – in order to raise awareness we posted tips, facts and advice on our Facebook page throughout the month
Staff at HDC hosted a careers evening in partnership with Wakefield Girls High School. Students from the school attended the practice and were given talks on dentistry and shown a ‘hands on’ idea of what it would be like to be a dentist.
We held our annual Macmillan Coffee Morning to raise money to beat cancer – it was a success as ususal!
Belinda, a dental nurse here at HDC got married at the wonderful Wentbridge House to her partner Rich.
We hit the 200 ‘like’ mark on our Facebook page! We held a summer prize draw that included an electric toothbrush and hygiene kit – look out for more give-aways on our Facebook page.
Harriet Willings, daughter of practice owner Mark Willings graduated as a fully qualified dentist from Newcastle University – Harriet marks the 5th generation of dentists in the Willings family!
