Dentures

If you have lost some or all of your teeth, then you may require a denture. A denture made of acrylic or metal replaces your natural teeth to give support to your cheeks and lips. It will snugly fit over the gums to replace missing teeth and eliminate potential problems caused by gaps. Without support sagging facial muscles can make a person appear older and reduce their ability to eat and speak. You may feel nervous or anxious about wearing dentures at first, but you can rest assured our team at Horbury Dental Care will help you to create comfortable fitting, natural looking dentures that you can wear with confidence.

At Horbury Dental Care we are privileged to have Dr Richard Graye who has a special interest in treating patients who require dentures, whether they are full dentures or partial dentures. Richard has over 32 years’ experience in the dental field and is extremely well liked by his patients. Richard works with his patients and his dental technician to create dentures that are comfortable, well-fitting and that look great.

Dentures FAQs

Will I be able to eat whilst wearing dentures?

Yes. Although it can take a little practice at first, but it will soon become second nature to you. Start with softer foods and gradually you will have the confidence to eat the food you love.

Why do dentures become loose?

A side effect of losing teeth is the loss of the bone and supporting structures around them, this means that over time your dentures may become loose and cause discomfort. Firstly, you can purchase adhesives which can be used to help to hold them in place, if the looseness is becoming a problem let us know and we can fix your dentures or create a new denture.

How do I keep them clean?

If you have lost some orall your teeth, it is important to take care of the soft tissues within your mouth. You should brush your tongue, gums, and the roof of your mouth every morning and evening using a soft-bristled brush. If you still have some natural teeth, you should look after them by brushing twice a day, flossing, and attending regular dental check-ups and hygienist appointments.
