Hi, I’m Alistair and I’m pleased to be the new dentist working at Horbury Dental Care. I’m 30 years old and was born and raised just outside Wakefield, so you could say I’m Yorkshire through and through.
I came to dentistry a bit later in my academic career after gaining a bachelors and masters in biomedical science and subsequently working in the NHS as a biomedical scientist specialising in blood transfusion. After several years I wanted to have a career that was more patient facing and hands on where I could directly see the impact I was having on patients.
I was awarded a Bachelor and Master of Dental Surgery this year (2022) and am enjoying my time working in practice. I love having positive interactions with patients and making them feel welcome and cared for.
When I’m not ‘dentisting’ you can find me losing golf balls on a round of 9. I also like to spend my time listening to music and going to gigs, predominantly rock and metal. When I can I try to get to the slopes to snowboard once a year and I’m a keen movie and TV fan. Oh, and I also love to spend time with my Springer Spaniel, Millie.
